Litigation firm Stewarts has announced the promotion of seven of its members to the partnership, as well as the creation of a new legal director role. The promotions bring the firm’s total number of partners to 67.
As of 1 May, the lawyers moving to partner as part of the firm’s largest ever promotions round are:
- Elaina Bailes, Lorraine Lanceley and Nick Haworth, all in the commercial litigation team;
- Darren Kidd and Lee Ellis of tax litigation;
- Christopher Deacon in aviation and international injury; and
- Hugh Johnson in clinical negligence.
In addition, the firm has promoted five senior associates to its newly created position of legal director: Francesca Berry, Karen Hutchinson, Tom Matusiak, Edward Heaton and Alexandra Bennett. In-house economist Mark Lewis has also been promoted to the role of economist director.
Managing partner John Cahill commented: ‘I am delighted that we are in a position to promote seven lawyers to partner status with effect from 1 May.
‘Whilst we have been actively recruiting lateral hires in the last 12 months, the retention and promotion of our internal talent remains paramount to our strategic plans for growth.’
