Stone Chambers takes on three barristers
International arbitration specialist Steven Walker and juniors Joseph England and James Smithdale have joined commercial and shipping set Stone Chambers.
Steven, called in 1999, specialises in international arbitration, focusing particularly on commercial, energy and construction disputes, acting in disputes in the UK and internationally. Steven is recommended in both Chambers & Partners UK Bar and the Legal 500 as a leading barrister for international arbitration and in Chambers & Partners UK Bar for construction. Steven is currently leading Joseph in a long running multi-million Euro ICC oil and gas arbitration.
Joseph England qualified as a solicitor at Allen & Overy and practiced as a litigation associate at US law firm Fried Frank before transferring to the Bar in November 2011. Joe was selected to spend the first year of his junior tenancy at the Supreme Court as judicial assistant to Lord Sumption and Lord Wilson. He practices in commercial and arbitration disputes and, in addition to his own work, is currently junior to Steven Walker in a number of large arbitrations and is junior on a subrogation case to be heard by the Supreme Court.
James Smithdale joins as a new tenant, having successfully completed his pupillage with Stone Chambers. He will be developing a broad commercial practice in line with Chambers' core practice areas, with a particular focus on shipping and international trade work.
