TLT—Amanda Hulme

New leader for firm’s financial services regulation team in London

TLT has recruited regulatory lawyer Amanda Hulme to lead the firm’s financial services regulation team. Due to start from 1 April 2024 in London, Amanda will be leading a team of lawyers working across TLT’s offices.

Amanda will be leaving her role at Addleshaw Goddard, where she was head of financial regulation for 18 years. Amanda also formerly practised as a barrister with Fred Philpott’s chambers and spent two and half years as a senior legal advisor at the Office of Fair Trading, advising on consumer law and consumer credit.

Amanda is known for providing top-tier legal advice in consumer finance, retail banking, payment services and FinTech regulation. She has worked with some of the top financial institutions on their innovation projects and implementation of regulatory requirements, including consumer credit reform, payment services regulation, open banking implementation and access to cash. She has also worked on large-scale transactions for some of the UK’s biggest banks.

Working with TLT’s head of banking, Amanda will provide strategic and innovative legal guidance to TLT’s financial services clients, including major financial institutions and most of the UK’s largest global commercial and retail banks.

Commenting on her appointment, Amanda said: ‘TLT is well-regarded as having one of the strongest financial services offerings in the UK, working with some of the UK’s largest and most complex financial institutions. I’m looking forward to getting stuck in to enhance the firm’s regulatory offering in the financial services sector and taking TLT on the next step of its growth journey in the space.

‘As well as its impressive roster of clients, I was really encouraged by its collaborative culture and progressive and supportive approach to its people.

‘As a senior female lawyer working in financial services, it is really important to me that I work in an environment that embraces flexibility and enables diverse talent to thrive.’

Jonathan Hoey, partner and group head of banking and lender services at TLT, commented: ‘Amanda has an unrivalled understanding and insight into the regulatory market and her expertise will be vital in helping to prepare our clients for what comes next. We’re delighted to be welcoming Amanda to the team.’
