Leading family lawyer joins team
Seddons has announced that one of the UK’s leading family lawyers, Toby Hales, will be joining the firm as partner. He joins the firm from Hodge, Jones & Allen.
With over 20 years’ experience, Toby will bring to bear significant expertise in a wide range of family matters, including adoption, divorce, financial and children issues, among others. He has acted for clients in complex, cross-jurisdictional trust matters, and recently represented Varsha Gohil in the high-profile 2014 case Gohill v Gohill, the appeal of which is currently progressing through the UK Supreme Court. Toby also acted in the 2010 case of Vaughan v Vaughan, a leading case that attracted a good deal of press attention.
Throughout his career, he has spearheaded a variety of market innovations, including the launch of a fixed-fee arbitration scheme earlier this year with the support of the President of the Family Division. As well as lecturing on various subjects, Toby has acted as adviser to the Archbishops Council in formulating domestic violence policy.
Seddons partner and head of family, Deborah Jeff, says: “We are very pleased to welcome Toby to the family team at Seddons. His breadth and depth of experience is a valuable addition to our already highly-ranked family capability—a key component of the firm’s wider offering for private clients. As we continue to go from strength to strength, Toby’s contribution and unique expertise will no doubt be of significant benefit to our clients, and we are delighted to have him on board.”
Toby adds: “I am delighted to be joining a team and a firm which not only is already highly regarded, but also clearly on an upward trajectory in terms of growth and reputation. I look forward to working alongside my colleagues to help ensure that Seddons continues to offer a comprehensive legal service capability to private clients which is second-to-none.”
