Tony Barker & Paul Cheetham—Horwich Farrelly

Insurance firm appoints business development & IT directors

Insurance industry legal firm Horwich Farrelly has appointed Tony Barker as business development director and Paul Cheetham as IT director.

Tony joins Horwich Farrelly from Keoghs where he spent seven years as business development director  He has worked in and around the general insurance industry for more than 35 years, including  underwriting, claims and account management roles, giving him valuable first-hand experience of the challenges facing Horwich Farrelly’s insurer clients.

Paul comes to the firm from Slater & Gordon, where he was head of IT. In his 17½ years with the law firm he was at the forefront of the development of legal IT systems, with a particular focus on efficient case management. In his new role at Horwich Farrelly he will ensure the practice’s IT systems can meet the needs of the growing organisation as well as deliver the increasingly sophisticated management information requirements of its clients.

Ronan McCann, business development partner at Horwich Farrelly, believes both appointments bring valuable experience and expertise to the legal practice as it embarks on an ambitious growth strategy.

“Horwich Farrelly has been quietly getting on with the job—achieving significant results for our clients. But we now want to be better known for the successes and savings we secure in the insurance sector. Tony's appointment will help us achieve that goal, having come from Keoghs where he was part of the team that brought about a considerable increase in turnover. Paul’s role will ensure that we have the right IT infrastructure to manage increased workloads.”
