Trainee pay consultation

Are trainees paid enough? The Law Society is seeking views on whether to introduce a recommended minimum salary for trainee solicitors. It has launched an online survey, available to view on its website. The Solicitors Regulation Authority abolished the minimum salary for trainees in August 2014 (£18,590 in central London and £16,650 elsewhere). Since then, firms have been required only to pay no less than the minimum wage (£11,830). The deadline for comments is 26 April.
