New appointment to head up firm’s arbitration group

Trowers & Hamlins has appointed arbitration specialist Hendrik Puschmann as partner in its London office, strengthening the firm’s growing international commercial disputes practice. Hendrik joins the firm from Farrer & Co, where he was head of the firm’s arbitration group, which he helped set up.

He will be based in London, but work as co-head of Trowers’ international arbitration practice, alongside the firm’s 100+ litigators across nine offices in the UK, the Middle East and Asia.

Hendrik brings to Trowers nearly 20 years of litigation and arbitration experience. He has worked on matters ranging from post-M&A, joint venture and franchising claims to construction and shipbuilding disputes, and from proceedings against former directors for breach of their duties to art cases. He also has significant expertise on investor-state treaty claims.

Commenting on his move to Trowers, Hendrik said: ‘Trowers might just be the most exciting law firm I could hope to join as an arbitration practitioner. With its second-to-none track record for resolving construction and infrastructure disputes, its fast-growing network of international offices and its client-focused, collegiate approach to lawyering, the firm offers unique opportunities. I am very much looking forward to getting started.’

The co-heads of Trowers’ dispute resolution & litigation practice, Lucy James and Nick Levy said in a joint statement: ‘We are delighted to welcome Hendrik to the Trowers partnership. He is a real arbitration heavy-weight and his unparalleled cross-border experience will greatly enhance our international bench strength.
