New partner for Cayman Islands DR team
Ogier has appointed a new partner to its Cayman Islands dispute resolution team.
Ulrich Payne joins the firm from Kirkland & Ellis International in London, where he was a partner, and has previous experience at London firms Simmons & Simmons and Hogan Lovells.
Ulrich is an experienced litigator with a background in highly complex international disputes, usually with a financial element. He has managed extremely high value cases, including one of the world’s largest arbitrations. He has worked across some of Europe’s largest jurisdictions, including the UK, France, Germany and Belgium, and has advised on very significant disputes in Russia, the Middle East and the US.
Rachael Reynolds, partner and head of the Cayman Islands team, says: “Ulrich is a great addition to the team. His practice as a partner at Kirkland & Ellis focused on complex international financial disputes and arbitration, and he has many years’ experience advising banks and other financial institutions, accountants and high net worth individuals on complex financial products and transactional issues. The Cayman Dispute Resolution team is in an expansion phase and Ulrich’s appointment further strengthens our offering, particularly in the area of complex financial services litigation.”
Ogier’s head of dispute resolution, Edward Mackereth, adds: “We are very excited about Ulrich Payne’s arrival in Cayman. With Ulrich complementing the recent appointments of Andrew Wanambwa in BVI and Ray Ng in Hong Kong, Ogier’s Carib-Asia region is benefitting from an influx of dynamic, highly skilled partners who have proven track records in dealing in complex cross-jurisdictional issues and we have laid the foundations for further growth in the region.”
In Jersey Ogier recently promoted Sara Johns and Jamie Bore to partner, and in Guernsey Christopher Jones has also been promoted, bringing the number of partners at the law firm to 50.
