Litigation solicitor appointed to commercial team
Coodes Solicitors has welcomed leading litigation solicitor Verona Cocks back to her home city of Truro to join its specialist commercial team.
Verona joins Coodes from specialist London banking law firm Matthew Arnold & Baldwin, where she was a partner in the banking and finance litigation department, acting for several high profile financial institutions and some of the UK’s top banks based in the City. Prior to that, she was head of the commercial dispute resolution & insolvency department in the midlands offices of Weightmans LLP.
Verona’s experience of handling cases involving commercial disputes such as shareholders actions, partnership company and contractual disputes, banking, intellectual property disputes as well as fraud, and insolvency litigation boosts Coodes’ already extensive commercial service across its offices in Cornwall and Devon.
Coodes head of commercial services Peter Lamble says: “Commercial law is a growth area for Coodes. Appointing someone of Verona’s calibre is a major boost to businesses in Cornwall and Devon who want a comprehensive service from their local law firm, rather than having to source expertise elsewhere—and sometimes out of the south west. As well as significantly enhancing our service to existing clients, we see Verona’s appointment as a great opportunity for us to win new business within the region, but also from national and international firms.
“Verona not only brings an excellent track record in commercial litigation, but the personable manner and approach that our clients expect.”
Verona says: “I am excited to be joining such a progressive firm and to have the opportunity to grow its commercial arm. As well as offering an enhanced service to local businesses, I will be working with colleagues to grow our client base nationally and internationally.
“In addition to welcoming the opportunity to return to Cornwall to live and work, I was attracted to a forward-looking, progressive firm that balances its ambitions with a professional but affable approach.”
