The Ministry of Justice is to continue to champion virtual courts despite evidence published last month which showed that they cost more in the longer term than traditional ones.
Defendants in the virtual court remain in the police station with a video link to the court rather than attending court in person. The Law Society says it would be irresponsibile of the government to roll the scheme out further.
