Wedlake Bell—Jake Ghanty

Financial regulation expert joins as partner

City law firm Wedlake Bell is pleased to announce financial regulation expert Jake Ghanty has joined as a partner in the firm's Commercial practice.

Previously head of financial regulation within the legal function of a large consultancy, Jake deals with a full range of financial services work (financial services regulation, investment management, payment systems and services, FinTech, insurance/reinsurance and structured debt and capital markets) in the retail banking and payments environment, as well as in the insurance markets and wider capital markets forum.

Jake's arrival brings a new capability to Wedlake Bell's offering and demonstrates the firm's intention to support its clients in areas of particular importance.

In addition to bank regulatory work, Jake handles a significant amount of payment services work, fall-out from Brexit restructuring, consumer credit, fund management and bank and insurer licensing work and insurance regulatory matters.

Jake is recognised in the Legal 500 for FinTech and Non-Contentions FS Regulation and has been consistently ranked in Chambers and the Legal 500 for several years.

On his joining Wedlake Bell, Jake Ghanty commented: 'The decision to join Wedlake Bell was an easy one.  The firm has an excellent reputation in the market and provides the perfect platform from which to build a pre-eminent financial services regulatory practice.  I am looking forward to collaborating with my new colleagues and working with both my existing clients as well as those we can now support more widely from Wedlake Bell.'

Martin Arnold, Wedlake Bell managing partner, said:'We have been on the look-out for a true expert in the financial regulation space for some time and in Jake, who has a proven track record in his field, we are delighted to have now achieved that goal.  Jake's experience and expertise speaks for itself and we look forward to working with Jake to further build our technology and regulatory offering in support of our clients.'
