Withers—Henry Farris

Withers adds financial services litigation partner to London disputes team

International law firm Withers has hired banking and finance litigation partner Henry Farris. Henry joins the firm in London from Mishcon de Reya, where he led the private equity disputes initiative.

Henry advises on disputes across the investment and financial services sectors, with particular experience in private equity and investment fund litigation, as well as brokerage, margin call and capital markets disputes. He also regularly helps clients with claims against banks and acts in shareholder disputes.

The financial services sector is experiencing significant disruption, with complex disputes on the rise that require specialist skills. As cryptocurrencies have gained in popularity and moved through market cycles, Henry has developed significant expertise in litigation involving a range of crypto assets, particularly advising clients on fraud cases.

Peter Wood, CEO of Withers' Dispute Resolution Division, comments: 'Financial litigation is an essential part of the armoury of dispute resolution tools we offer to clients and Henry's skills and experience are a great addition to our existing capabilities. Following FTX and the collapse in value of many crypto assets, his deep knowledge of assisting clients with issues in this area will also be immensely valuable and add to the capabilities of our international crypto group.'

Henry adds: 'I am really looking forward to joining Withers' disputes team. The firm's focus on advising successful individuals leaves a lot of opportunity for bringing claims on their behalf against financial institutions and helping them through the many contentious issues that can arise in the financial service sector. The international litigation team has fantastic experience in high stakes disputes as well as achieving exciting firsts in litigation involving cutting edge digital assets.'
