Firm develops Asia corporate focus
Addleshaw Goddard has bolstered its Asia corporate practice with the appointment of Andrew Yang to the Hong Kong office. Until recently, Andrew was a partner in the Hong Kong office of a US firm.
Andrew's appointment is in line with the firm's commitment to investing in its Hong Kong domestic practice, as well as providing further support to clients in South East Asia, and developing opportunities for both inbound and outbound mainland China work, specifically PRC corporates investing in the UK.
Andrew's practice includes advising on all aspects of M&A and commercial transactions, for small to medium enterprises, listed companies, venture/growth funds and other financial institutions based throughout the Asian region including Hong Kong, Indonesia, Singapore, China and Mongolia. For example, he recently advised on corporate transactions involving Indonesian and Thai technology companies.
Hong Kong corporate partner, Brett Stewien, says: "We are delighted that Andrew has joined the team. He has a strong client base and an enviable list of contacts in the region. His skill set perfectly fits our existing capability, providing us with shared opportunities in M&A, Private Equity and Capital Markets work specifically and we are already seeing these opportunities materialise in practice."
Nigel Francis, head of the Asia region commented: "The continuation of outbound investment from Chinese organisations as well as the promised economic reform that will ultimately lead to investment in China's state owned enterprises represent exciting future opportunities. Andrew's experience aligns perfectly with these plans and means our Asia practice will be well placed to capitalise as these opportunities arise."
