Anthony Collins—Chris Lloyd-Smith

Firm strengthens matrimonial services with qualified arbitrator

Social purpose law firm Anthony Collins expands the services it is able to offer to individuals following partner, Chris Lloyd-Smith’s qualification as a financial remedy family arbitrator.

Anthony Collins’ financial remedy arbitration services provide another option for separating couples at the firm alongside their more ‘traditional’ divorce services. Anthony Collins also offers additional services to separating couples such as mediation, child inclusive mediation (where the mediators speak to children directly as part of the process), collaborative practice and, most recently the ‘one lawyer’ method of working for both parties.

As a member of CIArb the membership organisation for family arbitrators, Chris can be instructed to determine the division of matrimonial assets on divorce, offering a binding legal solution to parties more quickly and at less cost than via the traditional court application route. Within arbitration Chris can offer parties a bespoke solution tailored to their specific needs, meeting them, in private at a time and venue of their choice.

With over 20 years’ experience as a family lawyer and already an accredited family mediator, Chris is adept at handling complex financial matters arising from divorce, such where there are multiple or disputed business assets, pensions and in cases that involve family trusts. Now a qualified arbitrator, he brings that experience to his financial remedy arbitration services.

Chris Lloyd-Smith, a partner in the matrimonial team at Anthony Collins, said: 'I am committed to supporting clients as they go through one of the biggest challenges of their lives, and I am extremely proud to now be able to offer arbitration services. I feel having this additional qualification allows Anthony Collins to offer the full suite of family dispute resolution services, giving clients the most choice when selecting the service that is right for them.

'Having complementary qualifications also adds to the quality of service I can provide to clients when acting for them as a solicitor. I am able to explain, from experience, both the mediation and arbitration processes and indicate if I were acting in those roles what my considerations would be and the likely outcomes at the conclusion of each process.'
