Arc Pensions Law—Ian D’Costa

Pensions firm welcomes legal director in London

Specialist pensions law firm Arc Pensions Law has appointed Ian D’Costa as a legal director in its London office. With more than 15 years’ experience advising on both defined benefit and defined contribution schemes, D’Costa specialises in investment-related pensions work, including liability-driven investments, derivatives, custody, collateral, and risk transfer solutions. He also advises trustees and employers on scheme governance, regulatory compliance, fiduciary duties, and ESG obligations, and has been involved in two successful master trust authorisations.

D’Costa’s career spans leading City and specialist pensions law firms as well as senior in-house roles at major investment managers and pension schemes. His background in complex fund investments, fiduciary management mandates, and large-scale risk transfer transactions provides him with ‘a unique perspective across both pensions and financial services’.

Managing partner Anna Copestake said: ‘We are delighted to welcome Ian to our London office. His expertise across both general pensions advisory work and specialist investment matters further strengthens our team as we continue to grow. Ian is a fantastic addition and will play a key role in supporting our clients.’

D’Costa commented: ‘I am very pleased to be joining Arc Pensions Law. The firm has a fantastic reputation for excellence in pensions law, and I look forward to contributing to the team and advising clients on a wide range of pensions matters.’ His arrival follows the appointment of newly qualified solicitor Salim Al-Sabah to the firm’s Leeds office, underscoring Arc’s continued expansion and commitment to developing the next generation of pensions specialists.
