Bird & Bird—Gordon Moir

London tech and comms team boosted by telecoms and regulatory hires

International law firm Bird & Bird has strengthened its London offering with the appointment of Gordon Moir as a partner in its tech & comms team. He joined on 28 January alongside his team, including legal director Marcus Bagnall, who starts on 16 February.

Moir is an internationally recognised expert in telecoms, regulatory and anti-trust matters, with more than 25 years’ experience across senior in-house and private practice roles. His practice spans telecoms regulation, competition law and strategic advisory work, including market access, next generation services, data protection, interception and cross-border issues, as well as legal frameworks affecting content broadcasting.

The team numbers six total, with five fee-earners and one legal support staff member joining the firm. It includes partner Gordon Moir and legal director Marcus Bagnall, with the full team in place by the end of March.

Ronald Hendrikx, co-head of the international tech & comms group, said: ‘Gordon’s market-leading reputation for telecoms regulatory and strategic advisory work makes him a natural fit to build on the existing strength of our global Tech & Comms Group.’ Phil Sherrell, head of the London office, added that his focus on telecoms regulatory, data protection and competition ‘fits well with our market-leading telecoms expertise’ and that ‘he will be a huge asset to our teams in London and internationally.’

Moir said: ‘I’m excited by the opportunities presented through being part of such an international and truly connected firm,’ adding: ‘I’m delighted to bring my regulatory and strategic advisory experience to such a strong telecoms team.’
