Legal veteran retires

Legal veteran and conveyancing specialist, Bob Tomlinson, has retired after a sterling 39 years at Gardner Leader solicitors.

Bob first qualified as a property solicitor in 1977 while working at Gardner Leader in Thatcham, Berkshire. Within two years he was appointed partner, head of the Thatcham office and a leading player in Gardner Leader's 13 strong conveyancing team, which is based across all three offices in Newbury, Thatcham and Maidenhead.

He has successfully steered the expansion of the Thatcham office, including the establishment of a new inheritance protection department, which makes Gardner Leader the only solicitors in Thatcham to provide private client services such as wills, probate and powers of attorney. The offices now span across two floors at Winbolt House in The Broadway offering a range of legal services for individuals and businesses.

Senior associate, Patrick Stewart, and associate, Michelle Challis, will now be responsible for running the Thatcham office. Patrick has over 20 years experience in both residential and commercial property whist Michelle has worked for Gardner Leader for ten years in residential sales and purchases. Patrick was previously a partner at Charles Hoile Solicitors before moving to Gardner Leader following the acquisition of part of the firm in 2013.

Derek Rodgers, managing partner of Gardner Leader, says: "The Thatcham office, along with our other offices in Newbury and Maidenhead, is really thriving and Bob played a significant role in this success.

"We are of course sad to see him go as he brought such expertise and knowledge to the firm but we're also excited about the future under the highly skilled hands of Patrick and Michelle and we wish Bob all the best for a long and happy retirement."
