Carey Olsen has appointed Patrick Ormond as a partner in its British Virgin Islands corporate and finance practice. His arrival bolsters the firm’s capabilities across complex cross-border transactions, with a focus on corporate, finance, restructuring and fintech mandates.
Ormond advises on a broad range of matters including equity capital markets, SPACs, M&A, joint ventures, reorganisations and financing structures, as well as crypto, token issuances and defi arrangements. He has been involved in a number of high-profile transactions, including take-privates, IPOs and business combinations, and has played a key role in the development of the BVI as a fintech jurisdiction.
He trained at Macfarlanes in London and previously worked at Carey Olsen before holding senior leadership roles at another offshore firm, including as managing partner of its BVI office. More recently, he co-established and led the BVI, Cayman Islands and Bermuda corporate practice in London.
Alex Hall Taylor, managing partner of the BVI office, said: ‘We are delighted to welcome Patrick back... an exceptional addition to our team and partnership.’ Ormond added: ‘I’m excited to be returning to Carey Olsen... a fantastic opportunity to build on my experience... and support clients on their most complex cross border mandates.’
