Carpmaels & Ransford

IP firm adds pharma & chemistry experts to the partnership

IP firm Carpmaels & Ransford has announced the appointment of two partners, Harvey Adams and Matthew Georgiou.

Harvey joins the partnership from outside after almost 19 years with Mathys & Squire LLP, where he was previously the head of the life sciences and chemistry practice. He has vast experience in the IP field; he specialises in biotechnology and pharmaceuticals, and has frequently handled contentious proceedings before the European Patent Office, with other areas of expertise including regulatory data protection, clinical trial exemptions and orphan drug designations.

The second new partner, Matthew Georgiou, has been promoted from within the firm, which he joined in 2009 after qualifying. He focuses his practice on the pharmaceutical and chemistry fields, and offers particular experience in handling multi-party opposition proceedings, as well as patent term extension strategies and medical exclusivity.

Carpmaels & Ransford’s managing partner Richard Jackson commented: ‘We are excited to welcome Harvey and Matthew into the partnership. Harvey comes to us with a truly exceptional reputation in the Life Sciences and Chemistry fields. Matthew has developed an impressive practice here at Carpmaels & Ransford in the same fields, including appearing at the CJEU in Luxembourg just last week. These latest additions to the partnership provide us with a great opportunity to expand further the globally recognised expertise of the firm.’
