Francesca Kaye, a commercial litigation partner at London firm Russell-Cooke, has been appointed as a Master of the Chancery Division. She has been a partner at Russell-Cooke since 1996, and was the first female president of the London Solicitors Litigation Association, from 2012-14.
Commenting on her appointment, Russell-Cooke Senior Partner John Gould said: ‘Francesca has been with our firm all of her professional life and our loss is the High Court's gain. She is an exceptionally talented lawyer and one of a number of very able women in senior positions within the firm. We will continue our support of the administration of justice by encouraging our lawyers to take up, as Francesca did, part-time judicial roles to gain experience. This is particularly important where it assists the judiciary to become more inclusive and diverse. As a respected former head of our commercial litigation practice, I have no doubt she will make a significant contribution to the work of the Business and Property Courts as a Chancery Master. We all wish her every success.’
Kaye was appointed a Deputy District Judge in 2003, and has served as a Deputy Master of the Chancery Division since 2016. She will take up her new role in the Royal Courts of Justice on 1 May 2019.
