Corporate real estate and funds expertise expands with partner hire

Charles Russell Speechlys has appointed Ed Morgan to its corporate team in London. Morgan joins from Fladgate LLP, bringing more than two decades of experience in funds and real estate. He has advised on complex investment and development structures, joint ventures and private M&A, and is known for his work on major transactions involving both UK and international assets.

Morgan’s recent work includes advising on landmark London properties such as 30 St Mary Axe (the Gherkin), 100 Bishopsgate, and One Hyde Park, as well as on the UK’s most expensive residential sale. His clients include asset managers, sovereign wealth funds, family offices and high-net-worth individuals, reflecting the Firm’s growing focus on private capital and cross-border investment.

David Collins, partner and head of the firm’s business advisory and transaction services division, said: ‘Ed is an exciting addition for us... he brings a wealth of experience advising asset managers, sovereign wealth funds and high-net-worth individuals, particularly in the real estate sector, an area where we have long been strong.’ He added that Morgan’s international experience ‘will be invaluable as we continue to grow across key markets’.

Commenting on his move, Ed Morgan said: ‘I am delighted to be joining Charles Russell Speechlys... the Firm is a real estate heavyweight and extremely well-regarded in private wealth and private capital. Its growth internationally makes this a particularly exciting time to join.’

The UK Supreme Court may be deciding fewer cases, but its impact in 2025 was anything but muted. In this week's NLJ, Professor Emeritus Brice Dickson of Queen’s University Belfast reviews a year marked by historically low output, a striking rise in jointly authored judgments, and a continued decline in dissent. High-profile rulings on biological sex under the Equality Act, public access to Dartmoor, and fairness in sexual offence trials ensured the court’s voice carried far beyond the Strand
Delays at HM Land Registry are no longer a background irritation but a growing source of professional risk. Writing in NLJ this week, Phil Murrin of DAC Beachcroft explores how the ‘registration gap’—now stretching up to two years in complex cases—is fuelling client frustration, priority disputes, and negligence claims
