CIArb—Mercy A Okiro

Mercy Okiro appointed to Global Steering Committee at Chartered Institute of Arbitrators’ Young Members Group

Mercy Akeyo Okiro has been appointed to the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators’ Young Members Group (YMG) Global Steering Committee. 

Mercy is the current Chair of the Kenya YMG, having sat on its main Branch Committee since 2015. She is also the youngest accredited mediator of the Judiciary in Kenya and a CIArb-trained mediator. She was admitted to the Kenyan Bar in January 2014. She is a member of the LCIA-Young International Arbitration Group (YIAG) and a member of the Young International Council for Commercial Arbitration (ICCA).

Her main areas of legal practice are international dispute resolution, arbitration, mediation, legal aid, women’s rights, sports law and legal research. 

Amanda Lee FCIArb, YMG Chair said: ‘Mercy brings with her a wealth of experience, having already established a new and active YMG in Kenya. We are delighted to have her on board and look forward to the added perspective she will bring.’

The Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb) is a professional membership organisation representing the interests of alternative dispute resolution (ADR) practitioners worldwide. With 15,000 members located in 133 countries, CIArb supports the global promotion, facilitation, and development of all forms of private dispute resolution.

The CIArb YMG is a group open to all members aged 40 and under. It has more than 3,000 members in more than 90 countries.
