Professional body for legal executives applies for independent practice rights
The professional bodies for legal executives have applied for the granting of independent practice rights. If successful, the joint application by the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives (Cilex) and Ilex Professional Standards would enable chartered legal executives to provide services in probate, conveyancing, litigation and immigration. Alan Kershaw, chair of Ilex Professional Standards, says: “This is an idea whose time has come.” The Legal Services Board has six months to consider the application.
