Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012 (SI 2012/632)

Revoke and re-enact the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2006, SI 2006/2739 with some modifications.

Commencement date

6 April 2012

 

Summary

Require employers carrying out some types of low risk short duration work, to:

  • notify the work to the relevant enforcing authority;
  • carry out worker medical examinations; and
  • maintain a register for each worker of the type and duration of work done with asbestos. 

A transitional period of 3 years is provided to assist business before the requirement for relevant low risk workers to have medical examinations comes into force.
