Financial stability is a key concern for young barristers during the pandemic, while many pupils will soon be entering their ‘second six’ and may need extra support, the Young Barristers Committee (YBC) has said

In their Young Bar Blog this week, YBC chair & vice chair Katherine Duncan & Joanne Kane set out the issues facing young barristers and the help available. For example, the Bar Council’s guidance on financial support measures may be useful for self-employed barristers, and the Bar Council is currently working on its update on the Chancellor Rishi Sunak’s financial package for the self-employed.

Pupils who feel they are being placed in a position that causes them anxiety or to feel unsafe can email the PupilHelpline@BarCouncil.org.uk if they want to speak to someone outside their chambers.
