COVID-19: Junior lawyers set up online hub on Ugenie

The Junior Lawyers Division (JLD), working with regional junior lawyer groups, has launched an online community for their members, in collaboration with mobile platform provider Ugenie

The Junior Lawyer Community Hub will provide a space where junior lawyers can talk to each other, receive useful content and updates, and share their experiences with others during this uncertain time.

It will run on a pilot basis for the next three months to see what works and what doesn’t. All junior lawyers―LPC students, LPC graduates, solicitor apprentices, trainees and those who are 0-5 years qualified―are positively encouraged to join in and let the JLD know what they think.

Charlotte Parkinson, associate at Addleshaw Goddard and JLD chair, said: ‘The JLD is aware that many junior lawyers are facing unprecedented and uncertain times, particularly in relation to their future careers.

‘The JLD has received several questions from its members about LPC exams, furlough, qualification and job prospects in the face of Covid-19. We are supporting members and releasing as much guidance as possible about these issues, but being able to speak to other junior lawyers in similar situations and in your own region will be a huge support at this time.

‘This platform ensures junior lawyers can continue to share information and remain connected whilst in isolation. We look forward to hearing feedback from our members during this pilot.’

To join the Junior Lawyer Community Hub, simply download the Ugenie app, complete the short registration and join the Hub. You can make sure you’re notified about relevant topics by selecting your member type and interest tags.
