Dentons tempts a partner to its Restructuring and Insolvency practice

Daniel F Fritz has joined global law firm Dentons as a partner in its Frankfurt office's Restructuring and Insolvency team, led by partner Andreas Ziegenhagen. He was previously a partner at the German law firm hww hermann wienberg wilhelm.

He brings 18 years’ experience in restructuring and insolvency law, including the enforcement and defense of insolvency-related claims. He supports insolvency administrators on questions related to mergers and acquisitions, and advises investors on distressed acquisitions. His clients include the Royal Bank of Scotland, which he advises as creditor with regard to the insolvency of Praktiker and Max Bahr, and serves as a member of their creditors’ committees.

Daniel frequently acts as a ‘Private Expert’ for the European Commission in the reform of insolvency legislation. He is currently assisting the EC in drafting a directive on the establishment of a preventative restructuring framework.

Andreas Ziegenhagen, Germany Managing Partner and Head of the Restructuring and Insolvency practice in Germany and Europe, said: ‘Daniel Fritz is a very experienced advisor who successfully pursues the goals of his clients. He will further enhance our already strong practice group also in Frankfurt.’

Robert Michels, Frankfurt Managing Partner, said: ‘We have recently hired several partners in the Banking and Finance, Litigation and Arbitration practices—we are looking forward to working with Daniel to create further synergies.’

Daniel said: ‘Dentons offers me the opportunity to move from classical insolvency administration to broader advisory activities. My clients will profit from the full-service approach at Dentons. For example, many of the restructuring matters I deal with have a strong financing element and will benefit from the experience of the Banking and Finance team.’

Dentons’ Restructuring and Insolvency practice was recently enhanced with the hire of Dr Benjamin Kurzberg as counsel and the promotion of Dirk Schoene to partner in Berlin. Altogether, the practice group comprises 20 lawyers in Germany.

With this hire, Dentons now has more than 40 lawyers and professionals in Frankfurt. So far this year, five partners have joined the team, and the firm has more than 150 lawyers and professionals working at Dentons in Berlin, Frankfurt and Munich.
