New head of legal to lead team of in-house lawyers

DMG Media has appointed Reinhardt Biermann as head of legal, commercial to lead the company’s team of in-house lawyers.

Reinhardt joins from Slaughter and May, where he was a senior associate in the technology, digital, data and IP practice area.

At Slaughter and May, Reinhardt worked on a number of high-profile transactions, including DMG Media’s joint venture with News UK to combine their print operations. He has been seconded at DMG Media since May of this year.

In his new role, Reinhardt will report jointly to Rich Caccappolo, chief executive officer, DMG Media, and Tim Collier, chief executive officer, DMGT.

Reinhardt will deliver legal advice to drive the company’s commercial ambitions. He will help develop and execute commercial transactions, including key projects licensing arrangements, joint ventures and M&A initiatives. He will also advise DMG Media on its interactions with regulatory bodies.

Liz Hartley, group editorial legal director, and her team will continue to oversee all editorial legal matters.

Tim Collier said: ‘Reinhardt has built a trusted relationship with the business both from his work as an external advisor, and from leading the commercial legal department on secondment from Slaughter and May.

‘He has a deep knowledge of the media industry, understands our long-term strategy and is an inspiring leader.’

‘I relish the challenge of helping DMG Media to navigate an ever more complex legal landscape.’
