Transport specialist joins firm

Birketts has appointed a former DVSA traffic examiner to help organisations manage their transport and logistics operations.

Doug Grant has joined Birketts as a self employed consultant. He has an in-depth knowledge of how the regulator works and what it looks for it, having spent several years in enforcement working for the Driver & Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA), allowing organisations to gain an unrivalled insight to the logistics and road transport issues surrounding their business.

Matthew Gowen, barrister at Birketts, said: “Doug is a fantastic addition to our team. Birketts’ logistics and road transport team comprises specialist solicitors and barristers as well as expert consultants. Our team of experts can tailor their services to any businesses of any size. They provide day-to-day practical assistance and have the support of our team of specialist lawyers where needed.”

Matthew continued: “Our team will visit your organisation to offer audits, training and advice, so that you gain practical assistance that is pertinent and relevant to your particular business and which can be put in place by those within your organisation.”

"Birketts has a first-rate reputation within the region and far beyond. The team features genuinely impressive lawyers spread across its offices and I’m thrilled to be joining an outstanding team with real strength in depth", added Doug on his recent appointment.

Doug will be based at the law firm’s Ipswich office but will support colleagues across Birketts’ four offices: Cambridge, Chelmsford, Ipswich and Norwich.
