E-mail REGULATIONS

In brief

UK directors face fines if their companies have missed a 1 January deadline to update their websites and e-mail signatures to include information required under new regulations.

The Companies (Registrar, Languages and Trading Disclosure) Regulations 2006 (SI 2006/3429) transpose the European First Company Law Amendment into UK law. They require every company to list its company registration number, place of registration and registered office address on its website and in e-mails. Such information is already required on business letters but the regulations extend it to websites, order forms and electronic documents including e-mail.
