Denis-Smith, a former journalist, qualified as a solicitor with Linklaters. In 2010, she set up Obelisk Support, which matches legal professionals with law firms and companies on a flexible basis.
In 2014, she founded First 100 Years, a project showcasing the first century of women lawyers ahead of centenary celebrations in 2019. It continues under the name, Next Hundred Years.
She takes office in October, and will be vice president next year and president in 2027.
