Family law solicitor receives new accreditation

Fisher Jones Greenwood (FJG) has announced that a solicitor within its family law team, Joel Tyson, has been awarded the higher rights of audience (civil) accreditation by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA).

This highly regarded endorsement enables Joel to provide his clients with a more holistic service. In addition to providing legal counsel, he can now also represent them in higher courts, including the High Court, Court of Appeal and Supreme Court.

Joel, who is based at the Essex and Suffolk law firm’s Chelmsford office, is now referred to as a solicitor advocate. He specialises in all areas of family law, including children disputes, divorce, financial matters, nuptial agreements and domestic abuse, and has been part of the FJG team since August 2019.

Reflecting on his achievement, Joel said: ‘Family law can involve a lot of sensitivities and emotions, so it’s comforting for clients to feel supported by someone they know and trust throughout the entire legal process.

‘A further benefit to my clients is that I am now able to undertake more complex and challenging cases and appeals, which removes the need to retain and meet a separate barrister for higher courts.

‘This not only reduces their legal fees, but working with a solicitor who has first-hand knowledge of the intricacies of their case promotes greater continuity and a more personalised approach.’

Charlotte Knappett, partner and head of family law at FJG, said: ‘We are incredibly proud of Joel’s achievement.

‘As a firm we actively encourage our solicitors to pursue their passions and interests and fully support their diversification into new or niche areas that enhance their practice.
