Forum launches regulatory focus group

The Forum of Insurance Lawyers (FOIL) has announced the establishment of its newest focus team, concentrating on health and safety regulation and compliance.

This marks the 27th of FOIL’s Sector Focus Teams (SFTs), which were created as part of FOIL’s operational structure several years ago. Each team is composed of five or six lawyers from various FOIL member firms, and focuses on providing training and events, spearheading campaigns and sharing its relevant expertise. The new Regulatory SFT will work on health and safety compliance in response to a growing focus on these issues, and is made up of founding member Chris Newton of Keoghs, Richard Salvini of Plexus Law, and James Jevon from DWF.

FOIL’s chief executive Laurence Besemer (pictured) stated: ‘Health and Safety regulation is one of the most pressing issues for business today across all sectors. FOIL needs to respond. Insurers and their legal advisers will of course want to differentiate themselves from one another in their approach, but on the biggest issues around the risks businesses face, sometimes consensus is more important. This is precisely what the Regulatory SFT is set up to offer.’
