The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) has launched an investigation into online betting companies, following concerns raised by the Gambling Commission. The CMA is investigating allegedly misleading promotions and unfair terms being used to block players’ payouts. It is using consumer protection legislation to require evidence from companies to establish whether enforcement action is required. It is also asking people who use gambling sites to come forward with any complaints of wrongdoing.
