Harbottle & Lewis—Jonathan Burt

Firm bolsters private capital practice with partner hire

London firm Harbottle & Lewis has brought Jonathan Burt on board as partner in its private capital team.

Jonathan joins the firm from private client firm Harcus Sinclair, where he was a partner for almost six years, with other previous positions including partner in the wealth management group at Baker McKenzie, and managing director at Barclays Wealth overseeing its international tax, trust and insurance businesses. Jonathan offers more than 20 years of experience handling international private client matters, including cross-border tax and succession planning and multi-jurisdictional investment structures.

Jonathan commented: ‘I am very excited about joining the team at Harbottle & Lewis. Harbottle & Lewis have always acted for wealth creators which make it a great fit for my expertise. The firm has a deep commitment to advising on legal issues arising from the acquisition, management and investment of private capital.  The move offers me the opportunity to expand further my practice with Harbottle & Lewis’s leading private capital practice and the other areas of the firm for which it is renowned including technology, media and entertainment.’

Managing partner and head of the private capital team Glen Atchison added: ‘We are very pleased to welcome Jonathan to the firm. His arrival supports our strategy to build upon our reputation with, and enhance our offering to, ultra-high net worth global families. He brings with him a wealth of industry knowledge and experience, gained both in private practice and in private banking and is highly respected as being at the very top in his field in private client work.’
