Hugh James— Christine Bradbury

Employment specialist joins the team

Cardiff and London firm Hugh James has welcomed Christine Bradbury to the team as a senior associate.

Public service specialist Christine joins the firm after more than nine years with Geldards. She is highly experienced in advising on employment issues, including tribunal claims, discrimination, unfair dismissal, restructuring exercises and contractual matters. She has a particular focus on advising public service clients, and also assists those in the technology, construction, transport, retail and logistics sectors.

Christine said: ‘I’ve joined a fantastic team of professionals who are trusted and relied upon by so many organisations and individuals to help them work through different challenges—particularly at this uncertain time. It’s a perfect role for me. I’m able to continue supporting local authorities, government bodies and the wider public sector, which I love, while returning to a broader spectrum of work across the private and commercial sector too.’

Louise Price, partner and head of the employment and HR services team, added: ‘Christine is a perfect fit for us and really complements the skills and experience within the team. We’re looking forward to embracing the opportunities that come with our appointment to the NPS framework and Christine’s considerable experience in the sector will undoubtedly be of benefit to leaders and HR professionals across the Welsh public service.’

Timing is everything—and the Court of Appeal has delivered clarity on when proceedings are ‘brought’. In his latest 'Civil way' column for NLJ, Stephen Gold explains that a claim is issued for limitation purposes when the claim form is delivered to the court, even if fees are underpaid
The traditional ‘single, intensive day’ of financial dispute resolution (FDR) may be due for a rethink. Writing in NLJ this week, Rachel Frost-Smith and Lauren Guiler of Birketts propose a ‘split FDR’ model, separating judicial evaluation from negotiation
