PLP demands legal aid info from MoJ
Legal charity the Public Law Project (PLP) has called on the Ministry of Justice (MoJ) to supply the data underpinning its planned civil legal aid cuts. Failure to do so “would render the consultation unlawful”, the PLP warned in a letter to the MoJ. PLP made a freedom of information request at the end of April regarding the consultation, Transforming Legal Aid, which would introduce a 12-month residence test for legal aid applicants, and reduce the amount paid to lawyers for judicial review applications.
