Irwin Mitchell—Louisa Donaghy

National military team expands in Leeds with legal director appointment

Irwin Mitchell has appointed Louisa Donaghy as a legal director in its national military team, based in Leeds and covering Catterick Garrison. She joins from another national law firm, where she was a senior associate, bringing extensive experience in military claims and a strong record in securing settlements for clients affected by serious injury, illness and medical negligence.

Donaghy has particular expertise in cases involving bullying, harassment and sexual assault, and has been involved in pioneering claims linked to carcinogenic diseases affecting service personnel working on Sea King helicopters. Her work has helped bring attention to these issues on behalf of veterans and their families, alongside her broader focus on complex and high-value claims.

Her appointment marks the first time a member of Irwin Mitchell’s military team will be based in Leeds, reflecting the firm’s strategy to grow its military offering across the north of England. The team, which includes lawyers with armed forces experience, advises on a wide range of issues affecting service personnel, veterans and their families.

Andrew Buckham, national head of military, said: ‘Louisa’s extensive knowledge and experience… is an incredible asset… her exceptional record… will certainly reinforce our strong standing.’ Donaghy added: ‘I’m determined to make an impact… ensuring even more service personnel receive the justice, recognition and support they’re entitled to.’
