Irwin Mitchell— Stefano D’Ambrosio

Irwin Mitchell expands Planning and Environment Team
Irwin Mitchell’s Planning and Environment Team is being boosted by the arrival of Stefano D’Ambrosio, a specialist environment lawyer who advises on all aspects of environmental law.

The team, which is headed by Claire Petricca-Riding, is now a team of ten and sits within Irwin Mitchell’s National Real Estate Division which has 25 partners and 145 fee earning staff (including the partners).

Stefano is dual-qualified as a solicitor in the United Kingdom and as a lawyer in Peru, where he practised law for around seven years. There he worked for Ausenco, an international environmental services provider in its Lima office and later as an environmental auditing lawyer for the Environmental Assessment and Enforcement Agency.

Claire Petricca- Riding, Head of Planning and Environment at Irwin Mitchell said, “Stefano’s environmental law credentials are a great boost to the team. We are seeing a growing number of enquiries from our clients on environmental issues and as the Environment Bill makes its way through Parliament and in the run up to COP 26, it is clear these issues are here to stay.  Stefano’s experience mean we have increased the capacity to deal with such issues for our clients and provides a unique global perspective which we are seeing as an increasing concern.”

“Our clients are keen to learn more about emissions and the impact of the ESG and climate change agendas, particularly those in the manufacturing and development sector. We hope to recruit further lawyers such as Stefano with expertise in this growing area.”

Timing is everything—and the Court of Appeal has delivered clarity on when proceedings are ‘brought’. In his latest 'Civil way' column for NLJ, Stephen Gold explains that a claim is issued for limitation purposes when the claim form is delivered to the court, even if fees are underpaid
The traditional ‘single, intensive day’ of financial dispute resolution (FDR) may be due for a rethink. Writing in NLJ this week, Rachel Frost-Smith and Lauren Guiler of Birketts propose a ‘split FDR’ model, separating judicial evaluation from negotiation
