Head of Birketts' employment law team to join board
New Anglia Local Enterprise Partnership has announced that Jeanette Wheeler, head of Birketts' employment law team, will join the LEP Board in September.
As well as leading one of the largest employment law teams in the East of England, Jeanette also sits on Birketts’ Management Board.
Jeanette previously held the role of president of the Norfolk and Norwich Law Society and is a former chair of the Norwich Business Women’s Network. She currently sits on one of the Norfolk Chamber Area Councils and has experience of working with government being a member of the Coalition Government’s Business Challenge Panel looking at rolling back employment law red tape on business.
Jeanette joins leaders from businesses such as the East of England Co-op, BT and Aviva as well as representatives from small business, social enterprise, education leaders and elected members of local authorities, on the LEP Board.
Jeanette says: “New Anglia LEP has an impressive track record in making a difference in the East. It has achieved a great deal since its inception and continues to drive positive changes such as devolution to enable our region to make the most of its assets, skills and talent. I am excited to have the opportunity to join an impressive group of business and public sector leaders who share the goal to promote and deliver further economic growth in Norfolk and Suffolk. In my professional capacity I have and I continue to work with many local businesses and organisations and I have a good sense of what we can achieve together to improve the picture with respect to jobs and investment. One of my particular interests is to ensure that we continue a joined up non-parochial approach to promoting the East and attracting inward investment particularly in a post Brexit world. I look forward to working with Mark Pendlington and his team.”
Mark Pendlington, chairman of New Anglia LEP says: “The LEP continues to attract the highest calibre of business leaders from across the private sector, so I am delighted to welcome Jeanette Wheeler to join the Board. Jeanette’s huge experience of business across the region, and around the world, will be a tremendous asset. As will her extensive experience in many of the sectors operating here and on which we rely to attract investment and drive growth. We all look forward to working with her.”
