
Firm appoints director to its community care team.
Duncan Lewis Solicitors has announced the internal appointment of Jemma Garside as director of the firm’s community care team.
Jemma, who is based at the firm's Hackney branch, operates a specialised practice in all areas of community care law and matters under the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and the Mental Capacity Act 2005 in relation to Court of Protection proceedings.
Jemma is experienced in successfully obtaining community care assessments for vulnerable individuals with physical and mental disabilities, in order to assist them in being provided with community care services in order to meet their care needs. She also assists clients in challenging assessments, eligibility criteria, reductions in services, charges for services and decisions in relation to direct payments. In addition, she assists clients in securing sufficient health care packages and NHS continuing care funding.
Jemma has a considerable practice in conducting successful claims for judicial review against a wide range of public bodies, including Local Authorities, Primary Care Trusts and the UK Border Agency. She has assisted in securing support and care packages for vulnerable children and adults and has also challenged decisions to refuse assistance to those with no recourse to public funds due to their immigration status.
