The Lord Chancellor, Robert Buckland has called for more CILEX (Chartered institute of Legal Executives) judges

Speaking at the CILEX AGM last week, Buckland said CILEX lawyers ‘were some of the most impressive lawyers that I have seen on the circuit…I want to see more judges from a CILEX background’. He also committed to working to remove restrictions on certifying copies of powers of attorney and working as Crown Prosecutors.

Meanwhile, CILEX President Caroline Jepson (pictured) said breaking down barriers to professional progress would be her main focus.

Jepson, who took over from criminal law specialist Craig Tickner last week, is a catastrophic injury claims specialist who began her career at Irwin Mitchell. She said the CILEX route ‘generates a determination and passion that serves clients and the overall profession well’.
