Charles Russell Speechlys solicitor appointed ITMA president
The Institute of Trade Mark Attorneys (ITMA) has elected a new president.
Kate O’Rourke MBE, who is a registered trade mark attorney and solicitor at law firm Charles Russell Speechlys LLP where she leads the trade mark and design registration and protection team, succeeds Chris McLeod as ITMA’s president who completed his term of office.
The president has responsibility for the policy and direction of ITMA and its liaison with UK legislators and international organisations, including the UK’s Intellectual Property Office (IPO), European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) and the World Intellectual Property Office (WIPO).
Kate will also oversee the transition of ITMA to becoming a chartered institute after it was awarded a Royal Charter by the Privy Council last week.
Kate says: “It is an honour and privilege to be voted into this role. ITMA has been a big part of my professional career for many years and I look forward to building on the exceptional work of my predecessors. I look forward to continuing to promote the high standards of our members and the embedding of our core values of quality, service and respect.”
