Kennedys welcomes five new partners

Global insurance firm Kennedys has continued its push for expansion with the lateral hiring of five new partners, all from Mayer Brown’s London office.

Among the new team joining Kennedys is the former London head of Mayer Brown’s insurance and reinsurance group David Chadwick. Accompanying him as new partners in Kennedys’ London office are Ingrid Hobbs, Tim McCaw and Andrew Westlake, all bringing a wealth of experience in insurance matters to the firm. The final new name is Andrew McGahey, who will be relocating to the firm’s Dublin office. All five are set to make their move to Kennedys official in the New Year.

The arrival of the team reflects a continued period of growth for Kennedys, with the five arrivals bringing the total number of new partner hires for the firm in 2017 to 33. It comes closely on the heels of the appointment of new partner Peter Demick in the firm’s Edinburgh Quays office, who joined from major Scottish firm Brodies.

Commenting on the recent hires, senior partner Nick Thomas says, ‘I am delighted that David, Ingrid, Tim, Andrew and Andrew are set to join Kennedys. They are all highly regarded and come with excellent reputations and strong client relationships that fit with the firm’s insurance and claims strategy. Their appointments significantly complement our domestic and global insurance practice and London Market capabilities - which were augmented with recent hires in Bermuda, Chicago and New York - and also reinforce our appetite for attracting top talent.

‘It’s been another very positive year of growth for Kennedys and I am looking forward to being able to announce further developments in 2018.’
