Kingsley Napley—Jenny Higgins

Legal director joins regulatory practice to lead offering for actuarial sector

Kingsley Napley has appointed Jenny Higgins as a legal director in its regulatory practice, where she will lead a new focus on defence and advisory work for the actuarial sector. Higgins was previously head of disciplinary investigations at the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (IFoA), giving her what the firm describes as a unique understanding of how regulators approach conduct issues and the actuarial regulatory framework.

Higgins has extensive experience advising regulated individuals and firms, as well as acting on behalf of professional regulatory bodies. She previously worked at Kingsley Napley between 2013 and 2019, representing accountants in disciplinary proceedings brought by the FRC, ICAEW, ICAS, ACCA and CIPFA, alongside advising the IFoA on regulatory and disciplinary issues.

Commenting on her return, Higgins said: ‘I am delighted to be back at Kingsley Napley who have a respected reputation in the regulatory world. There is growing demand for expert private practice advice to help clients deal with increasingly active regulators and dynamic sector issues.’ She added that she was looking forward to ‘growing Kingsley Napley’s practice in the actuarial sector by guiding clients through this landscape.’

Welcoming her appointment, Melinka Berridge, head of the regulatory practice, said Higgins’ expertise made her ‘the ideal person to lead our service offering for actuaries and actuarial firms’. Julie Matheson, head of the firm’s accounting & actuarial regulatory team, added: ‘I am thrilled Jenny is back with us. She has extensive experience in the specialist work we undertake and will be a trusted senior adviser to our clients.’
