Firm expands immigration and IP practices with strategic partner hires

Lewis Silkin has announced two senior appointments, strengthening its immigration and intellectual property practices with the arrival of Rose Carey and Scott Foster as partners. Rose joins the immigration team across the firm’s Cardiff and London offices, while Scott becomes part of the IP360 team in London.

Rose Carey is a leading immigration lawyer advising corporates, high net-worth individuals, and celebrities on complex immigration matters, including appeals and judicial reviews. She said: ‘This is a great opportunity to join such a supportive, entrepreneurial and forward-thinking firm… I’m particularly looking forward to building on our offering to international clients.’ Andrew Osborne, head of immigration, added: ‘Her reputation in both corporate and high net-worth immigration is second to none.’

Scott Foster, a dual-qualified UK and Canadian IP litigator, brings deep expertise in patent disputes and broader contentious IP matters. He has acted in landmark cases involving medical devices, agricultural technologies, and geographical indications. ‘Lewis Silkin offers the perfect match for my ambitions and I can’t wait to get started,’ said Scott. Tom Gaunt, head of IP, commented: ‘Scott brings outstanding experience advising on complex, high-value patent litigation… we’re very much looking forward to working with him.’
