Weightmans partner appointed president of London Market Forum of Insurance Lawyers

Ling Ong, partner at Weightmans, has been appointed president of the London Market Forum of Insurance Lawyers (London Market FOIL), succeeding Fleur Rochester of Kennedys. Her appointment follows the division’s 2025 rebrand, reflecting the distinct legal and regulatory challenges of the London Market.

With more than 30 years’ experience advising (re)insurers in the London Market, Ong takes on the role at a time of heightened geopolitical, economic and regulatory pressure. London Market FOIL will focus on supporting the industry as it navigates issues including cyber risk, digitisation, claims inflation and ESG considerations.

A key priority during Ong’s presidency will be the organisation’s international dimension, reflecting the global nature of London Market practice. Ong has extensive experience handling multi-jurisdictional claims and regularly works with overseas counsel across Europe and North America.

Commenting on her appointment, Ong said she was ‘delighted to be appointed President of London Market FOIL at a time when the London Market is more international than ever’, adding that her focus will be on ‘supporting members as they navigate emerging pressures, while further strengthening the global connections’ at the heart of the market.
