Mourant—Stephen Alexander

Jersey litigation lead appointed to global STEP Council

Mourant has announced that Stephen Alexander, its Jersey litigation practice leader, has been appointed to the global Council of STEP (the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners). Stephen will represent Jersey on the Council for a three-year term starting 1 January 2026.

STEP is a global professional body with over 22,000 members, including lawyers, accountants and financial advisors, who specialise in inheritance and succession planning. Its Council is elected by members worldwide and plays a key role in shaping governance and communication across the organisation.

Stephen, a chartered director and advocate, brings extensive experience in multi-jurisdictional commercial disputes, particularly in contentious private wealth, trusts, partnerships and corporate reorganisations. He said he was ‘honoured to be representing the interests of Jersey practitioners’ and described STEP as ‘vital in setting industry standards and best practice’.

In addition to his role at Mourant, Stephen is active in Jersey’s professional community. He sits on the Law Society of Jersey Committee, the Legal and Regulatory Committee of ARIE, and recently joined the Jersey Institute of Directors’ main committee, where he supports governance and policy initiatives.
