Cayman corporate team expands with partner appointment

Mourant has appointed Tom McLaughlin as a partner in its Cayman Islands corporate practice, reinforcing its capabilities in complex cross-border transactions. Tom joins from Dentons New Zealand, bringing with him a wealth of international experience across financial markets and private equity.

Tom has advised on a broad range of corporate matters, including IPOs, de-SPAC transactions, M&A, fund launches, and corporate restructurings. ‘I’m delighted to be returning to the Cayman Islands to join Mourant,’ he said. ‘The firm’s commitment to commercially-focused legal solutions aligns perfectly with my values.’

Catherine Pham, practice leader of Mourant’s Cayman corporate team, welcomed the appointment: ‘Tom is a talented and technical lawyer with extensive experience in the financial markets sector. His appointment will further strengthen our capabilities and reinforces our commitment to attracting top-tier talent.’

Tom’s arrival follows a series of senior hires at Mourant, including Brad Hillson as global head of private capital and John Greenfield in litigation. The firm also recently appointed Tom Grogan as chief transformation officer, signalling continued investment in leadership and innovation.
