Firm appoints two new housing partners
Bevan Brittan has appointed two new partners to its growing housing practice. Neil Brand and John Cox have both joined the firm from Clarke Willmott where they were partner and senior associate respectively. Neil is based in Bevan Brittan’s London office and John in Leeds.
Neil and John have a focus on housing management – assisting housing associations, private housing companies and local authorities with the management of their stock – and their appointments to Bevan Brittan means that the firm now has housing management partners in its offices in Leeds, London and Bristol.
Neil was at Clarke Willmott for three years, prior to which he worked at Devonshires Solicitors. He specialises in leasehold matters and commonly works with social housing landlords, arm’s length management organisations, Registered Providers, and others.
John was at Clarke Willmott for nearly three years, prior to which he worked at Walker Morris. He also worked in local government for ten years. Areas of specialism include contentious housing matters, advising landlords on such issues as breach of covenants, nuisance, possession and subletting.
Bevan Brittan’s head of housing, Jonathan Turner, said: “We are very pleased to have brought Neil and John on board. Giving us a ‘triangle’ of housing management partners, their arrival has boosted our housing management offering and given it national coverage. Along with their colleagues in the wider Housing practice, we are focused on growing a long-term sustainable team with increased capacity to help us service a growing client list.”
Duncan Weir, managing partner at Bevan Brittan, commented: “Housing is a key area of Bevan Brittan’s practice and with so many issues facing the sector, we are very focused on helping our clients negotiate all the uncertainties and achieve their strategic aims. I am delighted to welcome Neil and John to the firm after a successful year in which we have seen revenues continue to grow.”
